Liverpool are on the verge of signing Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Despite making 59 appearances in two seasons for Madrid, the 25-year-old midfielder
has been strongly tipped to leave the Bernabeu this summer, with the report claiming his departure is ‘inevitable’.
Anfield appears to be his likely destination, with Real Madrid Ere believed to be willing to let the Spaniard leave the club just two years after they signed him from Real Sociedad for £34million.
Brendan Rodgers is leading the race for the Spaniard, who is valued at around £16million and is seen as a suitable replacement for Lucas Leiva.
