De Bruyne Will Move to City

Kevin De Bruyne will complete his move to Manchester City by Saturday, according to Wolfsburg's director of sport Klaus Allofs.

However, despite the transfer seeming to be close to completion during the last few days, negotiations over minor details in the contract had been described as 'protracted'.

These talks have continued in Monaco, where both clubs were represented in the draw for the Champions League group phase, and Sky in Germany reported the Belgium international would undergo a medical at City this week.

However, as Wolfsburg won 3-0 at home to Schalke in Friday night's Bundesliga showdown, the club's director announced on Belgian TV the agonising wait would soon be over.

Allofs said: "We will complete everything either tonight (Friday) or tomorrow (Saturday). De Bruyne is off to Manchester City."

When asked on Friday for his thoughts on the impending arrival of De Bruyne, City boss Manuel Pellegrini remained tight-lipped ahead of Saturday's home game with Watford.

"You must continue asking because to the answer to the question is the same. I don't talk about rumours," he said.

It is understood a private jet has been on standby to transport De Bruyne from Germany to a medical in Manchester.

Earlier on Friday, Allofs said: "Of course it's stressful but it's a luxurious position for him to be in. He's going to go from a Champions League club to another Champions League club, that's a luxurious position to be in.

"He's done a lot of thinking but he's made this decision. To live with this uncertainty, as a professional footballer you'll just have to make it work."

De Bruyne started his professional career with Belgian side Genk five years ago before moving to Chelsea for £6.7m in January 2012.

After loans spells with Genk and Werder Bremen, he joined Wolfsburg in January 2014 for £18m.
